St. Brigitta’s Catholic Hospital is the brainchild of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret. The hospital is accommodated in a four acre piece of land within Yamumbi Parish. The patron saint of the institution is St. Bridged of Sweden whose feast we celebrate on July 23rd of each year; hence the name St. Brigittas (the German version of Bridged).

The institution opened its doors to the public on 5th January the year 2000. St. Brigitta’s hospital was established to meet the needs of the people living in Edoret, being the only mission facility. It's birth was to help all the religious working in the Diocese to meet their health care and medical needs. Those who visit the facility will be able to receive spiritual care also.

Eldoret town has many private hospitals. The cost of treatment is very high hence the rich can only access .The poor and the less fortunate in the society suffer a lot. This is one of the biggest reasons why the facility was established to meet the needs of the poor.
